Solar Power Made in Canada

Did you know that Canada has been one of the leaders in solar power technology for many years? For example, in 2009 and 2010, Ontario was the home of the largest solar farm in the world. The Sarnia Photovoltaic Power Plant can power more than 12,000 homes. And Canadian Solar is a leading manufacturer of solar PV modules with cutting-edge production facilities in Canada, China and Vietnam. Naturally, Canada is also home to leading research facilities. Manufacturers and research labs often collaborate with researchers and suppliers in neighbouring Michigan. Recently, the University of Waterloo conducted research with the kSA 400 RHEED analysis system. Solar technology in Canada is often used for off-grid electricity generation to power remote homes, telecommunications equipment, oil and pipeline monitoring stations as well as navigational devices.
